Our Editorial Standards
The Nerd Wire is an independent entertainment publication. These are the rules we hold ourselves to, published so you can hold us to them too.
Accuracy over speed
We would rather be right than first. When something is officially confirmed, we say confirmed. When a credible outlet reports it, we name that outlet. When something is unverified, we label it as unverified — or we don’t publish it.
We do not publish rumors as facts. We do not treat single anonymous “scooper” accounts as sources. We do not present studio marketing or fan speculation as reporting.
Sourcing
We link to original sources rather than aggregators. When another outlet did the work — an interview, an exclusive — we credit them by name and link to them. We do not reproduce other publications’ interviews, video, or photography as though they were ours.
When we conduct our own reporting, we say so.
Corrections
If we publish something wrong, we correct it prominently and promptly, and we note what changed. We do not quietly delete errors. Email press@thenerdwire.com with the subject line CORRECTION.
Creators and their work
We ask permission before publishing anyone’s cosplay, art, or photography. We credit creators by name and handle, on the image where possible. We credit photographers separately from the subjects they photograph. We never remove watermarks or signatures. If a creator asks us to take something down, we take it down without argument.
Spoilers
We label spoilers clearly and keep major plot details below a warning — never in a headline or the first line of a post.
What we don’t do
We don’t manufacture controversy for engagement. We don’t publish celebrity gossip, harassment, personal attacks, or content designed to start fandom conflict. We don’t post leaked footage, leaked awards results, or material obtained by recording embargoed presentations.
Independence and disclosure
We disclose when a review copy, screener, press credential, travel, or personalized content was provided to us. Access never buys coverage, and we don’t promise favorable coverage in exchange for it. Our reviews are opinion, clearly labeled as such, and separate from our news reporting.
We do not currently accept paid editorial placement. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on this page and labeled on the content itself.
