The 2026 Eisner Award Winners: Absolute Martian Manhunter Sweeps, Javier Rodriguez Takes Three

By July 26, 2026

Comics’ biggest night crowned a dominant book, a two-category sweep, and four new Hall of Famers.

The 2026 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards were presented Friday night at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront during San Diego Comic-Con, hosted by Phil LaMarr and Thomas Lennon across 32 categories.

The night belonged to Absolute Martian Manhunter. DC’s series took Best Limited Series, Best Penciller/Inker, Best Cover Artist, and Best Lettering. Artist Javier Rodriguez collected three trophies on his own — Limited Series, Penciller/Inker, and Cover Artist — the single biggest haul of the evening. Writer Deniz Camp took two: Best Limited Series for Manhunter and Best New Series for Assorted Crisis Events at Image. Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou won Best Lettering for the same book, in a category that rarely gets the spotlight it earns.

This Place Kills Me swept. Written by Mariko Tamaki and illustrated by Nicole Goux, the book won both categories it was nominated in: Best Publication for Teens and Best Writer for Tamaki.

By publisher, DC led the night with 10 wins, including Best Continuing Series, Best Limited Series, Best Anthology, Best Single Issue/One-Shot, and Best Graphic Album—Reprint. Image followed with four.

The Hall of Fame welcomed four voter-selected inductees: Colleen Doran, Jeff Smith, Akira Toriyama, and Chris Ware. The judges’ choice inductees included Bob Bolling, Gerry Conway, Denys Cowan, Edwina Dumm, Mike Friedrich, Oliver Harrington, Don Heck, Abe Kanegson, Lee Marrs, Go Nagai, Paul S. Newman, Héctor Germán Oesterheld, Tom Palmer Sr., Bud Plant, Mike Royer, Dave Sim, Jimmy Swinnerton, Carol Tyler, and Rick Veitch.

Special honors: the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award went to Elfquest creators Richard and Wendy Pini, whose independent comics career now spans nearly five decades.

A note on our coverage: a file purporting to list the winners circulated online before the ceremony. We didn’t use it, and we’d encourage the same caution toward any outlet that did. These awards belong to the people who won them, announced on the night they were announced.

Congratulations to every winner and nominee — and if a book on this list is new to you, that’s the whole point of an awards night. Go read it.
