Namor and Doctor Doom Don’t Share a Scene in Avengers: Doomsday — But Read the Full Quote

By July 29, 2026

Two of the most powerful characters in Avengers: Doomsday never appear on screen together.

Speaking to Collider at San Diego Comic-Con, Tenoch Huerta was asked whether Namor and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom interact:

“They don’t have direct interaction in this part of the story.”

He went on:

“At the end, what he’s doing affects the entire world. With this anger, he can destroy everything around. So, it’s not direct, the relationship, but it’s something that is the consequence of what is happening in his heart.”

The phrase worth noticing

“In this part of the story.”

Doomsday is the first half of a two-film arc. Avengers: Secret Wars follows it. Huerta’s answer is specific to the film he was promoting, and it’s the kind of careful phrasing actors use when they’ve been told exactly how much they can say.

That isn’t a confirmation of anything. It’s simply a narrower statement than “they never meet,” and the difference is worth holding onto.

What the answer actually describes

Huerta isn’t describing two characters who are unconnected. He’s describing a connection that runs one way — Doom acts, and the consequences reach Namor along with everyone else.

For an ensemble film reportedly carrying one of the largest casts Marvel has assembled, that’s a structural detail worth knowing: not every major character is in the same rooms. Some are experiencing the same catastrophe from opposite ends of the world.

He also teased Sue Storm

Huerta indicated Namor will share scenes with Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm.

For comics readers, that lands harder than the Doom answer. Namor’s attachment to Sue Storm dates to Fantastic Four #4 in 1962 — the issue that brought him back after two decades — and it has been a recurring fracture in that title ever since. It is arguably the oldest romantic entanglement in the Marvel Universe.

With Kirby’s Sue now established in the MCU and Namor in the same film, that thread is finally available to Marvel on screen.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives December 18.
