Blizzard is taking World of Warcraft from the desktop to the tabletop.

D&D: World of Warcraft will officially release November 17, 2026, with early access beginning November 3. The new gameplay expansion gives players and Dungeon Masters the tools to build campaigns in Azeroth—including playable species, subclasses, spells, monsters, factions and several recognizable dungeons from the MMO.

This is more than a setting guide with familiar artwork. The expansion adapts major pieces of World of Warcraft into playable fifth-edition Dungeons & Dragons content.

Every World of Warcraft Class Is Represented

The expansion includes rules representing all 13 World of Warcraft classes, built from classes found in the D&D Player’s Handbook and expanded with new options inspired by their MMO counterparts.

Six entirely new subclasses are included:

Three existing subclasses have also been updated for the setting: the Swashbuckler Rogue, Path of the Spiritual Guardian Barbarian and Warrior of Mystic Brews Monk.

Altogether, the book features more than 40 specializations intended to help players recreate an existing World of Warcraft character or build someone completely new.

Players Can Choose From 16 Azeroth Species

D&D: World of Warcraft includes 16 playable species. Eleven are new to the expansion:

The book also provides revised rules for dwarves, elves, goblins, humans and orcs.

A character’s chosen species can provide a starting provide a starting Renown score with one of Azeroth’s factions, weaving the Horde, Alliance and the world’s other organizations directly into character creation.

Spells, Professions and Faction Renown Are Coming Too

The expansion adds more than 60 spells based on recognizable World of Warcraft abilities, including Moonfire, Rune Strike and Demon Spikes.

Players will also have access to more than 10 professions and over 30 magic items, mounts and companion creatures. The new profession options are designed to make crafting and character progression part of the campaign beyond traditional combat and quests.

More than 20 Azeroth factions are represented through a Renown system based on rules from the Dungeon Master’s Guide. Building reputation can unlock allies, safe passage and other faction-specific benefits throughout a campaign.

Seven World of Warcraft Dungeons Have Been Rebuilt for D&D

Seven familiar locations have been adapted into tabletop dungeons:

Dungeon Masters will also receive more than 50 new monsters and 30 dungeon-boss stat blocks to use in their campaigns.

Icecrown Citadel Becomes a High-Level Adventure

The separate Icecrown Citadel Map Pack and Digital Adventure brings parties into the Lich King’s stronghold for a campaign spanning levels 16 through 20.

The adventure contains five chapters, 10 maps and 10 boss encounters, taking players from the Lower Spire to the Frozen Throne. Its physical component includes five double-sided 22-by-30-inch maps and two sheets of tokens.

Sixteen magic items are incorporated into the adventure, including Frostmourne and Invincible.

A four-panel D&D: World of Warcraft Dungeon Master’s Screen will also be available, featuring player-facing Azeroth artwork and references for combat and faction Renown on the Dungeon Master’s side.

What Comes With the D&D: World of Warcraft Bundles?

The Ultimate Bundle contains physical and digital versions of the core gameplay expansion, the Icecrown Citadel Map Pack and Digital Adventure, the Dungeon Master’s Screen and a Murloc promotional miniature while supplies last.

A limited Collector’s Edition Ultimate Bundle replaces the standard physical book with a foil-and-sculpted collector’s edition celebrating the Horde and Alliance. The Collector’s Edition bundle guarantees the Murloc miniature.

Digital preorder rewards include:

The in-game rewards include a Black Dragon mount, Gazer pet, Mimic Chest toy and Mimic Chest decor. Redeeming them requires a Battle.net account, an active World of Warcraft subscription and a copy of the game. The rewards are not compatible with World of Warcraft Classic.

Preorders for D&D: World of Warcraft are available now ahead of its November 17 release.
