Gremlins 3 Delayed to Fall 2028 as DC’s Dynamic Duo Also Shifts

Gremlins 3 will make fans wait a little longer. Warner Bros. has pushed the long-gestating sequel from November 19, 2027, to October 6, 2028. In the same shuffle, DC’s Dynamic Duo also moved.

What the Gremlins 3 delay changes

The new date lands the film squarely in fall 2028. Previously, it was set for late 2027, so this is roughly a year-long slip. As a result, the mogwai return gets pushed well into the future.

Dynamic Duo shifted, too. The DC feature moved to September 22, 2028, landing a few months earlier in that same fall window. Consequently, Warner Bros. now has two franchise films clustered in the back half of 2028.

Why fans still have reason for hope

Despite the wait, the pedigree remains strong. Chris Columbus is directing Gremlins 3, returning to a franchise he wrote decades ago. Notably, Steven Spielberg stays attached as an executive producer.

That combination matters. Columbus penned the original 1984 film, and Spielberg produced it, so both have deep roots in the property. Therefore, the creative DNA of the series is well represented.

The Gremlins franchise has been dormant on the big screen since 1990’s Gremlins 2: The New Batch. In the years since, the mischievous creatures have lived on through merchandise and nostalgia. A third film has been rumored for ages.

For Warner Bros., spacing out these releases makes strategic sense. Two franchise titles landing weeks apart could split attention and box office. By staggering them across fall 2028, the studio gives each film room to breathe.
