Friday at New York Comic Con 2026 leaned hard on TV. Avatar: Seven Havens got two more seasons and a brand-new Avatar series, AMC dated its witches and set a final-season window for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and Blumhouse laid out a horror slate that runs from Paranormal Activity to a video game. Here’s the NYCC 2026 Day 2 news, rounded up from the outlets and studios that reported it. Live updates are on our NYCC 2026 hub.
Avatar: Seven Havens is renewed through Book 4, and Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos is ordered
Avatar: Seven Havens has been renewed for two more seasons at Paramount+, Deadline reports. The story of Avatar Pavi and her twin sister Nisha will continue through Books 3 and 4, so the animated sequel series set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender now runs through at least four Books. The news came at the show’s NYCC panel on Friday, timed to the release of Book 1.
Deadline also reports that a new animated series, Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, has been ordered. It follows a rebellious teenage Avatar who breaks with thousands of years of tradition by learning the four elements on adventures around the globe, keeping ahead of his angry teacher, rowdy pirates and chaotic spirits while helping the world his own way. No platform, date or cast has been announced.
Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko made the announcement alongside voice actors Saheli Khan (Pavi) and Aishu Devan (Nisha), with Janet Varney, the original voice of Korra, moderating. Book 1’s first three episodes debuted Friday on Paramount+, with episodes 4 to 6 on October 16, 7 to 9 on October 23 and the last four on October 30.
Mayfair Witches: Salem Coven gets a date, and Daryl Dixon’s final season lands in February
Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches: Salem Coven, the show’s third season, premieres Wednesday, December 30, AMC announced on Friday. That’s earlier than the 2027 window AMC gave in July. The panel, with Alexandra Daddario and Harry Hamlin among the cast, showed an exclusive first look and a teaser trailer. AMC said in July that the season is set in Salem, Massachusetts, and introduces new families.
The fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premieres in February. Its panel, with Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, showed never-before-seen footage and a new teaser trailer and marked the 15-year journey of Daryl and Carol.
AMC previewed two more series, too. Catherine Zeta-Jones showed clips and a sneak peek from the AMC+ revenge thriller Kill Jackie, and Carrie-Anne Moss presented two preview clips from YAGA, a Crave Original premiering Friday, October 23 on AMC+.
Prime Video’s Bloodaxe sets a January 2027 premiere
Prime Video’s historical series Bloodaxe launches January 20, 2027, and a first-look teaser was unveiled at NYCC on Friday, Deadline reports. The series comes from Michael Hirst and Horatio Hirst, with Xavier Molyneux as Erik Bloodaxe and Jessica Madsen as Gunnhild. Nobody is waiting on a renewal, either: season 2 is already in production in Ireland, with MGM Television producing.
Blumhouse dates a new Paranormal Activity and names directors for Blair Witch and Something Is Killing the Children
Jason Blum and James Wan spent 90 minutes laying out the Blumhouse Atomic Monster slate on Friday night, Variety reports. A new Paranormal Activity film from director Ian Tuason is in production and set for theaters May 21. It was announced with a teaser video.
Dylan Clark is directing the new Blair Witch, and Craig Zobel will direct the film adaptation of Something Is Killing the Children, the comic by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera. Blumhouse is developing it as both a live-action film and an adult animated TV series, with Tynion leading the series.
Blumhouse’s horror game Grave Seasons launches March 9. And Kristen Bell, who plays Mrs. Claus opposite David Harbour in Violent Night 2, appeared on the panel.
Comics: James Bond at IDW, Absolute Justice, a new Captain Marvel and more
IDW now has the James Bond comics license, and Grant Morrison will write the first title, Sunbreaker, The Beat reports from IDW’s Friday panel. At DC, The Beat reports that Absolute Justice, a five-issue event miniseries from Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreyra, launches in April 2027 and brings the heroes of DC’s Absolute Universe together for the first time.
Marvel has a new Captain Marvel series from G. Willow Wilson and Rachael Stott due in May 2027, and Daredevil #700 arrives in March 2027, per The Beat. Skybound and Image are launching Skybound Visions, a line of standalone miniseries aimed at new readers, with Transformers, G.I. Joe and Turok books starting in January 2027, The Beat reports. And Dark Horse is turning Baldur’s Gate 3 into a monthly comic, with issue #1 out February 24, also via The Beat.
Magic: The Gathering opens the Darkhold with Marvel: Darkhold Destiny
Marvel: Darkhold Destiny, a Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond set, arrives April 9, 2027, The Beat reports. It’s the first Universes Beyond set built around its own narrative, and it focuses on the magical side of the Marvel Universe, with Scarlet Witch, Thor, Doctor Strange and Hela among the characters named. The set was revealed at the end of Marvel’s Bullpen Bulletins panel.
