Start clearing space now. Grand Theft Auto VI may need 210 GB on PlayStation 5, according to PlayStation Game Size, the X account that pulls install data from the PlayStation Network backend before it goes public. The same post lists the Standard edition at $79.99, preloading from November 12, and a midnight unlock on November 19. Insider Gaming says it independently corroborated the figure.
Here’s the important distinction: the preload date is official, the file size isn’t. Rockstar confirmed back in June that digital pre-orders can start downloading November 12, and physical buyers get the same date because the boxed version holds a download code instead of a disc. Neither Rockstar nor Sony has published a storage requirement yet.

What 210 GB actually means
A launch PS5 has 825 GB on paper and roughly 667 GB you can actually use, so GTA VI alone would take close to a third of it. For comparison, GTA V’s current PS Store listing asks for 148.2 GB. PS5 Pro owners, with 2 TB built in, can breathe a little easier.
What about Xbox?
Unconfirmed. Reports conflict on whether the tracker’s figure covers Xbox Series X|S at all, so treat any Xbox number as a guess until Microsoft’s store or Rockstar lists one.
Before November 12
- Decide what you’re willing to delete, or budget for an M.2 SSD expansion.
- Turn on downloads in Rest Mode so the preload can run overnight.
- Physical buyers: you still need the internet. The box is a code.
- Pre-release install sizes can shift, so leave yourself headroom beyond 210 GB.
GTA VI launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Catch up on Rockstar’s statement confirming the date and Take-Two’s earlier confirmation.
We’ll update this story if Rockstar or PlayStation confirms the final install size.
