Two years after a sandworm-shaped popcorn tin turned AMC into a Saturday Night Live punchline, the chain has studied the situation carefully and concluded the problem was not enough sandworm. AMC Theatres revealed its Dune: Part Three collectibles on Oct. 29, and the headliner is a Double Sandworm bucket: two toothy worm mouths rising side by side out of the lid. AMC’s official reasoning, per BroBible, is that two worms make it easier to share. Sure.

It isn’t alone. AMC’s other headline piece is the Sandworm Thumper collectible, which comes with a working thumper, the Fremen device that summons the worms in Denis Villeneuve’s films. The Hollywood Reporter says both come with a large popcorn and will be sold at AMC locations in the U.S. and at Odeon Cinemas across Europe, alongside drinkware, mystery keychains and a sandworm plush. (Some early coverage describes the Thumper as a cup rather than a bucket; AMC’s photo shows a taller, tumbler-shaped tin with the thumper mounted on the lid.)

When can you get one, and what will it cost?
AMC hasn’t announced pricing yet. THR reports the price will come closer to release, and Attractions Magazine reports AMC’s collectibles arrive Dec. 17, the night before the movie opens. For reference, the original Part Two bucket sold for $24.99 in 2024 before resellers started listing it for many times that.
AMC’s food and beverage chief is not pretending the first bucket didn’t happen. “We knew that Dune fans would have high expectations for what came next,” Hank Green, AMC’s SVP of food and beverage, said in a statement reported by THR.
Regal and Cinemark brought their own worms
AMC isn’t the only chain playing. Regal has a Spacing Guild Navigator bucket exclusive to its theaters, and Cinemark has teased a Copper Sandworm bucket as coming soon, according to SuperHeroHype.
The original sandworm tin kicked off the popcorn-bucket arms race that’s followed nearly every blockbuster since, though it wasn’t the reaction AMC planned for: a company executive told Variety in 2024 that the chain wouldn’t have made it had it known it would be both celebrated and mocked. Judging by this lineup, AMC has made peace with it.
Dune: Part Three, which adapts Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah and closes out Villeneuve’s trilogy, opens in theaters and IMAX on Dec. 18.
