Marvel Studios returned to Hall H for the first time since 2024 and used the hour to lay out years of its future. Here’s every announcement, answered one at a time.

Is Ryan Gosling playing Ghost Rider?

Yes. At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Marvel Studios confirmed Ryan Gosling will star as Ghost Rider, directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine), for a 2028 theatrical release. Gosling had publicly campaigned for the role since 2022. The casting was announced live during Marvel’s Hall H panel.

Gosling told press earlier this year only that “some discussions have been had. It’s a complicated situation.” Tonight those discussions had a result.

When does Black Panther 3 come out, and who is the new Black Panther?

Black Panther 3 releases in theaters December 15, 2028, with Ryan Coogler returning to direct. David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus, The Long Walk) will play T’Challa’s son — also named T’Challa — taking on the mantle. It’s the franchise’s first step forward with the name since Chadwick Boseman’s death in 2020.

Is Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday?

Yes. Hayley Atwell returns as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday, opposite Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. Marvel confirmed the return at its SDCC 2026 Hall H panel. Doomsday opens December 18, 2026. Hall H also showed exclusive footage centered on the Doctor Doom–Reed Richards rivalry, narrated by Sue Storm — not released online.

Did Ryan Reynolds show up as Deadpool at Marvel’s panel?

During the Doomsday segment, a figure in a grey Deadpool suit walked on stage unannounced — Ryan Reynolds, in character. He asked why Thor was crying in Deadpool & Wolverine and joked about when Doomsday actually starts filming. To be precise: Marvel presented an appearance, not a casting. No Doomsday role was announced.

What is Avengers: Endgame Encore, and when is it out?

Avengers: Endgame Encore is a theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame, teased by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige at SDCC 2026. It arrives in theaters September 25, 2026. Feige also confirmed VisionQuest — which he called the completion of the “WandaVision trilogy” — premieres on Disney+ October 14, 2026.
