Everything Marvel Announced at SDCC 2026: Gosling’s Ghost Rider, Black Panther 3, and an Endgame Return

Marvel Studios’ first Hall H panel since 2024 delivered new films, new dates, a returning fan favorite — and an uninvited guest in a grey suit.

Marvel Studios returned to Hall H for the first time since 2024, and used the hour to lay out years of its future.

Ryan Gosling is Ghost Rider. The long-rumored casting is official: Gosling leads Marvel Studios’ Ghost Rider, directed by Shawn Levy — coming off Deadpool & Wolverine — for a 2028 theatrical release. Gosling had publicly wanted the role since 2022, and told press earlier this year only that “some discussions have been had. It’s a complicated situation.” Tonight those discussions had a result.

Black Panther 3 has a date and a Panther. Ryan Coogler returns to direct, with a December 15, 2028 release. David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus, The Long Walk) will play T’Challa’s son, also named T’Challa, taking on the mantle — the franchise’s first step forward with the name since Chadwick Boseman’s death in 2020.

Peggy Carter is back. Hayley Atwell returns as Peggy in Avengers: Doomsday, opposite Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.

The footage. Hall H saw exclusive Doomsday material centered on the rivalry between Doctor Doom and Reed Richards, narrated by Sue Storm. The footage was not released online, and we’d encourage skepticism toward any recording circulating from the room.

And then Deadpool showed up. While the Doomsday cast was on stage, a figure in a grey Deadpool suit walked out — Ryan Reynolds, unannounced. In character, he asked why Thor was crying in Deadpool & Wolverine, and joked about when Doomsday actually starts filming. To be precise: Marvel presented an appearance, not a casting. No role in Doomsday was announced.

Elsewhere in the hour: Jon Bernthal presented a clip from Spider-Man: Brand New Day featuring Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and the Punisher against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Kevin Feige teased Avengers: Endgame Encore, the re-release arriving September 25. And VisionQuest — which Feige said completes the “WandaVision trilogy” — premieres on Disney+ October 14.

Avengers: Doomsday opens December 18, 2026.
