Batman fans have more than a new season to investigate today.

Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles, a new cooperative crime-solving game based on Prime Video’s animated series, launched July 31 exclusively through Amazon Luna. Prime members can play at no additional cost, while the game is also available to Luna subscribers.

The game arrives alongside all 10 episodes of Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2, which are now streaming on Prime Video. Rather than recreating the combat-heavy structure of the Batman: Arkham games, Chronicles places players inside a noir-inspired Gotham mystery.

What Is Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles?

Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles is a cooperative party game for one to four players.

Players join a special GCPD task force working alongside Batman and Detective Renee Montoya. Across 11 episodic cases, the group must collect evidence, follow leads, question suspects and untangle crimes connected to Gotham’s growing collection of supervillains.

Each episode introduces a different detective minigame. Players may be asked to scan fingerprints, reconstruct damaged objects, piece together torn maps, decrypt codes or defuse bombs.

The cases feature villains including Scarecrow, Babyface, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Dollmaker, Lynx, Music Meister and the Joker.

Hamish Linklater reprises his role as Batman, while Michelle C. Bonilla returns as Detective Montoya. Matthew Needham, who makes his full debut as the Joker in Season 2 of the animated series, also voices the character in the game.

Your Phone Becomes the Controller

The game is part of Amazon Luna’s growing GameNight collection, which is designed to make multiplayer games accessible without requiring several traditional controllers.

Players stream Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles to a compatible screen and use their smartphones as controllers. There is no separate download or additional gaming hardware required.

Prime members with Fire TV devices in the United States and United Kingdom can also access Luna games directly through Prime Video. That means viewers can finish an episode of Batman: Caped Crusader and move into the game without leaving Amazon’s entertainment platform.

Amazon Games director J.C. Connors described the release as a way for fans to move directly from watching the series to playing inside its version of Gotham.

Where Can You Play the New Batman Game?

Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles is available through the Amazon Luna app in the following countries:

The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Amazon Prime members can play the game at no additional cost. It is also included for Amazon Luna subscribers.

The game is exclusive to Luna and has not been announced for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch or traditional PC storefronts.

Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 Is Streaming Now

The game’s release coincides with the return of the animated series.

All 10 episodes of Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 are available now on Prime Video. The new season brings Batman deeper into Gotham’s criminal underworld and introduces several familiar characters, including Edward Nygma’s Riddler, Carrie Kelley, Roxy Rocket and the Joker.

Linklater returns as Bruce Wayne and Batman alongside Eric Morgan Stuart as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Krystal Joy Brown as Barbara Gordon, Jason Watkins as Alfred Pennyworth and Jamie Chung as Harley Quinn.

Chronicles may not be the sprawling, combat-driven Batman adventure some players have been waiting for, but it embraces a part of the character that games sometimes leave behind: Batman is supposed to be the world’s greatest detective.

This time, Gotham is letting the rest of us work the case.
