Gamescom 2026 has locked in its dates, its showcase, and — for the first time in the event’s history — a completely sold-out show floor. The world’s largest games convention returns to Koelnmesse in Cologne from Aug. 26 to 30, kicking off the night before with Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
That sellout is the headline. Every available meter of exhibition space is booked, a first for Gamescom, which points to a packed floor even as the console makers keep splitting on how they show up. Nintendo and Xbox are both confirmed. Sony, notably, is not — at least not with its own booth.

When it all happens
Opening Night Live streams free worldwide on YouTube, Twitch and Steam on the evening of Aug. 25. Keighley’s roughly two-hour showcase is the marquee event: world premieres, release dates, trailers and developer appearances, historically the source of Gamescom’s biggest headlines.
The show floor then opens Aug. 26, with Wednesday reserved largely for press, trade visitors and select ticket holders. Public days run Aug. 27 through 30.
Who’s confirmed
The exhibitor list is deep. Confirmed names include Nintendo, Xbox, Ubisoft, CD Projekt Red, Capcom, Sega, Electronic Arts, Bandai Namco, Krafton and Team17, alongside simulation heavyweights like GIANTS Software and Astragon.
Xbox has detailed its plans furthest. Microsoft is bringing 25 playable games across 140 stations, with a lineup that includes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Gears of War: E-Day, Metro 2039, Stranger Than Heaven and Alien: Isolation 2. Xbox will also run its own livestreams from the show floor on Aug. 26 and 27.
Who’s sitting out
Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed PlayStation will not have its own consumer stand at Gamescom 2026. It’s the seventh straight year the company has skipped a dedicated booth — PlayStation hasn’t held one since 2019. Sony’s absence doesn’t mean PS5 games won’t appear at third-party booths, but there’s no PlayStation showcase on the floor this year.
What’s rumored — and not confirmed
Here’s where the wishlists start, so it’s worth being clear about the line. None of the following has been announced for Gamescom or Opening Night Live. They’re expectations and rumors, not confirmed reveals.
Speculation heading into the show includes a possible PS5 Pro push, another wave of Switch 2 titles now that the console has momentum, and long-shot hopes for updates on The Elder Scrolls VI, The Witcher 4 or a new God of War. Any of these could surface. None is on the record. Treat headlines promising specific reveals with skepticism until the trailers actually roll.
Why it matters now
Gamescom is the last major beat of the summer games calendar, and a sold-out floor plus a Keighley-hosted showcase means real news is coming — even if the console makers keep drawing different battle lines about how they attend. Opening Night Live on Aug. 25 is where the confirmed reveals will land. We’ll have live coverage from there.
