Slayground Teaser: A24 and Jeremy Saulnier Turn a Haunted Attraction Into a Crime Scene

Jeremy Saulnier is taking us back to the haunted house, and this time the scare actor might be the actual monster. A24 released a new official teaser for Slayground on Tuesday, Oct. 20, one day after the studio promised it on X, and the film is set for theaters on January 29, 2027.

What Slayground is about

A24’s official synopsis follows scare actor “Metal Mike” Graves, who wakes up inside a haunted attraction surrounded by his dead co-workers with no memory of how they got there. With a statewide manhunt closing in, he has to figure out what happened, even if the trail leads straight back to him (A24).

So, yes: a Halloween-season whodunit where the prime suspect is also the guy whose whole job is jumping out of the dark at people. That premise alone is very Saulnier.

Cast and creative team

Saulnier wrote and directed the film, which was previously known by the working title October. A24 lists Cory Michael Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, Stanley Simons, James Badge Dale, Stephen Root, Chris Sullivan, Young Mazino, Imogen Poots, Matty Matheson and Macon Blair in the cast. Blair is a longtime Saulnier collaborator going back to Blue Ruin.

The poster is a workplace safety sign

A24’s teaser poster is styled like the “days since last accident” board in a break room: “It has been [a sad face doodle] days since the last homicide.” It credits the director of Green Room and Rebel Ridge, which tells you which Saulnier showed up for this one.

Tuesday’s video is the second look at the film. A24 first teased Slayground in September, per Bloody Disgusting, and has been pointing fans to its countdown site, runlikehell.com.

Saulnier’s genre track record runs from Blue Ruin to Green Room to Netflix’s Rebel Ridge, so expectations are high and the violence is probably not going to be tasteful. Slayground opens in theaters Jan. 29, 2027.
