The cat made it. Prime Video will release Apocalypse Z: New World worldwide on October 30, and Los Angeles gets a look first: the Spanish zombie sequel has its U.S. premiere at Screamfest on Tuesday, October 13, at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood.

Amazon added a full trailer to its announcement on October 8, two days before the film was due to open at Spain’s Sitges Film Festival.

What Apocalypse Z: New World is about

New World follows 2024’s Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End, which Amazon says became its most-watched international original movie, behind only Your Fault. Carles Torrens returns to direct from a screenplay by Ángel Agudo, based on Manel Loureiro’s novels.

The story moves to the Canary Islands, now Europe’s last refuge after the TSJ virus outbreak. When a mission leaves for the mainland to find supplies, a man named Roberto joins it with what Amazon calls “questionable intentions.” The operation turns into a run for survival between hordes of infected and a team that can’t agree on whose side it’s on. Amazon is pitching the sequel as having more action and an ensemble story.

Who’s in it

The cast includes Carlos Alcaide, Julia Martínez, Mónica López, Tamara Casellas and Santiago Vaca Narvaja. José María Yazpik is back as Pritchenko, and Berta Vázquez returns as Lucía, a nurse barricaded inside a hospital. Axel Medrano, Pedro Hernández, Javier Godino, Ujin Moreno and Mario Mayo also appear.

And yes, Pedrito the cat returns as Lúculo.

How to see it early

The Screamfest programme starts at 7:15 PM on October 13 in Theatre 4 with a 10-minute zombie short, Until the End, directed by Ben Rock. The festival’s film page puts the feature itself at 7:30 PM, with a running time of 96 minutes, presented with European Languages and Movies in America. Tickets are on the festival’s ticketing page.

Everyone else can stream it on Prime Video from October 30, in more than 240 countries and territories.
