Roadside Attractions has released the official trailer for The Gallerist, Cathy Yan’s dark comedy starring Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega, which opens only in theaters Dec. 4, as first reported by Deadline.
The setup is a delightfully bad idea. Portman plays Polina Polinski, a gallery owner in financial trouble after a rough separation, who tries to pass off an accidental corpse as the centerpiece of her debut exhibition at Art Basel Miami. Ortega plays Kiki. As the buzz builds, influencers and the police both come sniffing around.
Cast and credits
Yan directs from a script she wrote with James Pedersen. Portman also produces, alongside Sophie Mas and Tom McCarthy. The supporting cast includes Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Brühl, Charli XCX, Zach Galifianakis, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The film premiered at Sundance in January, and Roadside Attractions and Vertical picked up U.S. distribution afterward. The trailer’s title card confirms the Dec. 4 date, in theaters only. No streaming date has been announced.
