Abrams has a release date for Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender: The Art of the Movie. The companion book to the animated film arrives Nov. 10, 2026, according to the publisher’s listing, and IGN landed the exclusive first look at its contents.
Editions and price
- Standard hardcover: $50, 256 pages, ISBN 9781419786068
- Deluxe edition: $100, 256 pages, ISBN 9781419786075, with a foil-stamped cloth slipcase and ten vellum chapter openers designed to mimic animation cels
Both are listed as pre-order on Abrams’ site. Per the listing, the deluxe vellum pages layer to show the final art and separate to show work in progress.
What is inside
Ramin Zahed, editor in chief of Animation Magazine, wrote the text. Abrams describes it as an official behind-the-scenes companion covering the film’s return to Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko, with never-before-seen concept art, character designs, new locations and new threats, including hybrid creatures. The cover credits a foreword by director Lauren Montgomery and introductions by Avatar co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The listing also highlights the film’s blend of 2D and CG animation.

The bigger Avatar picture
The film is one piece of a franchise that keeps expanding. At NYCC last month, Avatar: Seven Havens was renewed through Book 4 and Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos got a series order. A $100 art book is a niche purchase, but the standard edition gives fans of the production side an easier entry point.
