Spider-Man: Brand New Day is on track for the biggest opening weekend of 2026. Beyond that, the projections vary by more than a hundred million dollars.
Here’s where they stand ahead of the weekend’s actual numbers.
The projections
| Source | Domestic three-day |
|---|---|
| Sony / studio-side | $180M – $195M |
| Analyst consensus | $230M – $250M |
| Optimistic models | ~$274M |
| BoxOfficePro panel | $280M – $300M |
Deadline reports a global opening around $425 million. The film is in 4,300 North American theatres.
Why the gap exists
The spread isn’t really a disagreement about how many people will see this film. It’s a disagreement about what number should be in the room beforehand.
Studios habitually project conservatively for their own releases. If Sony forecasts $195 million and the film delivers $260 million, Monday’s coverage is about a blowout. If Sony forecasts $290 million and the film delivers the identical $260 million, the same result reads as a shortfall.
The audience is the same either way. Only the story changes.
Independent analysts have no such incentive, which is why BoxOfficePro’s panel is comfortable sitting $100 million above the distributor.
What would actually be notable
- Beating Toy Story 5‘s $159.6M — makes it the biggest opening of 2026. Near-certain on every projection.
- Beating No Way Home‘s $260M — several sources expect this. It would put Brand New Day into the all-time top five.
- Clearing $300M — only the most optimistic models get there, and it would be historic.
When we’ll know
Studio estimates land Sunday morning. Final actuals arrive Monday, and they routinely move a few million in either direction.
We’ll update this page with the real number as soon as it’s confirmed.
