What is Battleworld?
Battleworld is a patchwork planet in Marvel Comics, assembled from fragments of other realities. It first appeared in 1984’s Secret Wars, built by a near-omnipotent being called the Beyonder. In the 2015 version, Doctor Doom builds it from the remains of a collapsed multiverse and rules it as a god.
The 1984 version — the Beyonder

Secret Wars (1984) was Marvel’s first company-wide crossover, and the premise was blunt: a being called the Beyonder abducts the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe, deposits them on a planet he has assembled from pieces of other worlds, and tells them to fight.
That planet is Battleworld. Its whole design is that it’s stitched together — different landscapes, different physics, different pieces of different realities sitting next to each other.
The 2015 version — God Emperor Doom
Thirty years later, Jonathan Hickman rebuilt the idea, and this is the version that matters now.
In Hickman’s Secret Wars, the Marvel multiverse dies. Universes collide in events called incursions, and one by one, realities are destroyed.
At the end of it, Doctor Doom seizes godlike power, gathers what survived, and builds Battleworld out of the wreckage — a single planet made of surviving fragments of dead universes, each one a separate domain with its own rules.
And Doom rules all of it as God Emperor Doom. Not a villain scheming for power. A man who already won, sitting on a throne, being worshipped.
That’s the version people are pointing at, and it’s easy to see why.
Is Battleworld in the MCU?
Marvel hasn’t confirmed it.
Here’s what’s actually established: Robert Downey Jr. is playing Doctor Doom. The next two Avengers films are Doomsday (December 18) and Secret Wars. In the 2015 comic, Doom is the one who builds Battleworld.
That’s a reasonable set of dots to connect. It is not a confirmation, and anyone telling you otherwise is guessing.
We’ll update this page if that changes.

The post-credits scene in Brand New Day locates Peter Parker off Earth, and the end card reads “SPIDER-MAN WILL RETURN” — without naming a film.
A Spider-Man who ends his movie somewhere off-world, in a universe heading into Doomsday and Secret Wars, is why the word started trending.
