The filmmakers behind Deadstream are going back to the internet for their next nightmare. Joseph and Vanessa Winter will write and direct Future Me, a psychological horror-thriller adapted from a story first posted to Reddit’s r/NoSleep, Variety reported on Oct. 20.
The premise
The source story, by Daria Vasileva, follows a man who gets an unsettling email from his past self through FutureMe, the service that lets you schedule a letter to arrive years later. Anyone who has ever reread an old note to themselves knows exactly why that’s scary.
Who’s making it
Longevity Pictures and Spooky Pictures are producing alongside Abu Dhabi’s Image Nation Studios, which is expanding a multi-picture partnership with the companies. Majd Nassif produces for Longevity, and Steven Schneider and Roy Lee produce for Spooky. Ben Ross (Image Nation) and Aysel Lyatifova (Longevity) are executive producers. The same group previously teamed on Home Safety Hotline.
Where it stands
Future Me is in development. No cast, shoot dates, distributor or release window has been announced, so don’t expect footage anytime soon. More horror coverage is here.
