Keanu Reeves might be headed into a serial-killer thriller with Don Lee. Reeves is in talks to join James Wan’s English-language remake of The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil at Paramount, The Hollywood Reporter reported on Oct. 20, with Variety following. Those are negotiations, not a done deal; neither Paramount nor Reeves’ camp has confirmed it.
Wan is directing, and Don Lee is back
Wan, who boarded as director earlier this year, will make the remake his first feature since Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. He’s also producing through Atomic Monster with Michael Clear. Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok) is attached to reprise his role from the 2019 South Korean original, in which he played a crime boss who teams up with a cop to hunt the serial killer who targeted him.
The producing bench is crowded: Sylvester Stallone and D. Matt Geller of Balboa Productions, Lee through Big Punch Global, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura are all on board, per the trades. Eric Pearson wrote the latest draft of the script, building on earlier drafts by Shay Hatten and Brian Helgeland.

What’s not confirmed
Reeves’ role hasn’t been reported, and there’s no release date. World of Reel has reported, citing a production listing, that filming starts in Los Angeles in April; no trade or Paramount has confirmed that, so take it as a target, not a schedule. Check out more movie news here.
