Galadriel’s husband arrives in Season 3 — a “lover-boy” inspired partly by Tolkien’s own marriage.

The mystery lasted [X days]. Jamie Campbell Bower’s Rings of Power role is official: he plays Celeborn, Elf lord, warrior, and husband of Morfydd Clark’s Galadriel, per Empire’s exclusive first look at Season 3 (premiering November 11).

When Bower’s casting was announced [link to our story], his role was kept under wraps. The reveal answers one of the show’s longest-standing questions — Celeborn has been absent since Season 1, when Galadriel described him as lost to the war.

Bower’s description of the character: a “lover-boy” — a deliberate pivot from Stranger Things’ Vecna. He told Empire the dynamic with Galadriel draws partly on J.R.R. Tolkien’s relationship with his wife Edith, anchored in “longing and yearning.” Celeborn will also take a leadership role in the season’s central conflict, the War of the Elves and Sauron.
