D23 2026 is running all weekend in Anaheim, and Friday night’s Disney Entertainment Showcase delivered a packed slate of movie, television and gaming news: Marvel revealed its new X-Men cast and released trailers for Avengers: Doomsday and VisionQuest, Lucasfilm confirmed the return date for Ahsoka and showed the first Star Wars: Starfighter footage, and Kingdom Hearts somehow managed to get both a new game trailer and an original television series in the same night.

Disney’s Friday-night showcase brought new trailers for Avengers: Doomsday, VisionQuest and Ahsoka Season 2; revealed Marvel’s new X-Men cast; showed the first Star Wars: Starfighter footage; announced an original Kingdom Hearts anime series; and delivered new dates and details for Incredibles 3, Coco 2, Lilo & Stitch 2, Tangled and more.
Marvel at D23 2026
Avengers: Doomsday — new official trailer released
CONFIRMED. Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell and Robert Downey Jr. reunited onstage to introduce a new Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which Marvel released publicly following the presentation.
The footage puts Doctor Doom’s conflict with Reed Richards and the wider Marvel universe front and center as the MCU moves toward its next massive crossover.

Hugh Jackman also appeared in a prerecorded segment, with Ryan Reynolds heard off-camera as the pair joked about whether Wolverine and Deadpool were needed in a movie that already has more than 20 characters. Their involvement was not confirmed.

Avengers: Doomsday — Doctor Doom’s second look
CONFIRMED. A new Doctor Doom costume for Robert Downey Jr. went on display at the Marvel booth.

Avengers: Doomsday — Nightcrawler and Mystique
CONFIRMED. Marvel displayed the costumes worn by Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler and Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, giving fans their clearest look yet at the returning Fox-era mutants.

VisionQuest — first official trailer
CONFIRMED. Paul Bettany and James Spader joined Kevin Feige to debut the first official VisionQuest trailer.
The footage follows White Vision as he tries to understand whether inheriting Vision’s memories actually makes him the same person, while his unusual mental landscape includes artificial intelligences from throughout his history — including Ultron. The trailer also brings Vision’s family back into the story and gives fans new looks at Tommy Maximoff and Spader’s human manifestation of Ultron.
VisionQuest premieres October 14, 2026 on Disney+.
X-Men — Marvel reveals its new mutant cast
CONFIRMED. Marvel Studios finally unveiled the cast of its upcoming MCU X-Men movie, directed by Jake Schreier.
The lineup includes:

- Samara Weaving — Emma Frost
- Christopher Abbott — Charles Xavier / Professor X

Star Wars at D23 2026
Ahsoka Season 2 — January 20, 2027
CONFIRMED. Lucasfilm officially announced that Ahsoka Season 2 premieres January 20, 2027 on Disney+ and released the first teaser trailer.
Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen and Eman Esfandi joined Dave Filoni for the presentation. The new footage shows Anakin continuing to guide Ahsoka — including training scenes with Ariana Greenblatt’s younger Ahsoka — while Grand Admiral Thrawn rallies the Imperial remnant.
Ezra Bridger is also officially back home with Hera and fighting alongside the New Republic.
Ahsoka Season 2 — new costumes for Ahsoka, Anakin, Sabine and Thrawn
The Lucasfilm pavilion also gave fans extensive looks at costumes, props and concept art from Season 2, including new designs for Ahsoka, Anakin, Sabine and Thrawn — plus Chopper, Murley and the tiny rolling Loth kittens known as Lothballs.

Star Wars: Starfighter — Ryan Gosling is Kade Auberon
CONFIRMED. Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling debuted the first footage from Star Wars: Starfighter, an original standalone adventure arriving May 28, 2027.
Lucasfilm revealed that Gosling plays Kade Auberon, a cynical rogue from the wrong side of the galaxy whose mysterious past pulls him into a dangerous adventure.
The footage also shows Kade piloting a decommissioned Imperial starfighter described as the fastest ever built, alongside Flynn Gray’s character, as well as a striking sequence involving an ocean and massive columns of water rising toward the clouds.

Pixar at D23 2026
Incredibles 3 — Summer 2028
CONFIRMED. Incredibles 3 arrives in Summer 2028 and shifts more of the focus toward Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack.
The kids attempt to prove they can operate as superheroes on their own while a new villain questions whether every superhero deserves to be treated like one. Concept art also showed Bob back in his original blue supersuit.
Coco 2 — November 2029
CONFIRMED. Miguel returns as a teenager in Coco 2, which arrives in theaters November 2029.
Benjamin Bratt will return as Ernesto de la Cruz, while the story takes Miguel back to the Land of the Dead.
And yes: Disney announced a Coco sequel and made Coco the first Disney world revealed for Kingdom Hearts IV during the same presentation.
Gatto — March 5, 2027
Pixar showed new footage from Gatto, the Venice-set film starring Mark Ruffalo as Nero.
The footage included Nero using pigeons as a distraction and attempting to evade authorities while trying to straighten out his life.

Ghost Market — Spring 2028
CONFIRMED. Pixar announced Ghost Market, its first ghost movie, arriving Spring 2028.
The story follows Kyle, whose Hawaiian vacation leads him to a mysterious market that acts as a crossroads between the living and the dead.
Disney Animation and Live-Action
Lilo & Stitch 2 — May 28, 2028
CONFIRMED. The live-action Lilo & Stitch sequel arrives in theaters May 28, 2028.
The presentation also confirmed the arrival of Angel, Experiment 624, Stitch’s pink counterpart and eventual love interest.
Tangled — March 31, 2028
Disney showed the first footage from its live-action Tangled, featuring Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel.
The film is currently shooting in Spain and arrives in theaters March 31, 2028.
The Princess Diaries 3
CONFIRMED (in development). Anne Hathaway appeared at D23 and assured fans the team is working hard to get The Princess Diaries 3 right.

Romy and Michele 2
CONFIRMED. Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino appeared as Romy and Michele to announce that a sequel is officially in development.
Ice Age: Boiling Point — February 5, 2027
Queen Latifah and Denis Leary presented a new look at Ice Age: Boiling Point, including a prehistoric/Jurassic version of Scrat.
The film arrives February 5, 2027.
The Bluey Movie — August 6, 2027
The first teaser for The Bluey Movie debuted at D23, showing Bluey and Bingo in a new CG theatrical style.
The movie arrives in theaters August 6, 2027.
20th Century and Television
The New Simpsons Movie — September 3, 2027
CONFIRMED. The sequel to The Simpsons Movie is officially titled The New Simpsons Movie and arrives in theaters September 3, 2027.
D23 attendees saw an early animatic involving Homer chasing a foul ball through an increasingly ridiculous journey around Springfield.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 — November 20
CONFIRMED. Disney released a new teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, with Walker Scobell joined at D23 by Andra Day and Ming-Na Wen, who play Athena and Hera.
Season 3 arrives on Disney+ November 20.
Oswald — February 2027
Jon Favreau announced Oswald, a three-part Disney+ miniseries starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
The project uses traditional hand-drawn 2D animation and premieres in February 2027.
The Greatest Showman stage musical — Spring 2027
A stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman is officially heading to London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane beginning Spring 2027.
Game
Kingdom Hearts IV — late 2027, and Coco is the first Disney world
CONFIRMED. Square Enix debuted a new Kingdom Hearts IV trailer and finally gave the game a release window: late 2027.
The footage revealed Coco as the first Disney world officially confirmed for the game, sending Sora, Donald and Goofy into the Land of the Dead.

Kingdom Hearts — original anime series coming to Disney+ and Disney Channel
CONFIRMED. Disney officially greenlit the first original Kingdom Hearts television series.
The project is an original anime series developed in partnership with Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix. Rather than directly adapting the games, the show will tell a brand-new story that expands the Kingdom Hearts universe.
It is coming to both Disney Channel and Disney+. No premiere date has been announced.
