Marvel Rivals’ Ultron Event: Start Time, End Date, and All Four New Skins

NetEase has delivered another PvE event for Marvel Rivals‘ Path to Doomsday, and this one takes its cues from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

When does the Ultron event start?

2:00 UTC on Friday, July 31, as part of Season 9.

If you’re in the US, that means it goes live Thursday night:

The event

Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and Scarlet Witch take on Ultron as he unleashes a swarm of drones to lay siege to Avengers Tower.

As in previous PvE events, you’ll be able to customise and enhance your heroes’ abilities beyond their standard kits. Captain America and Hulk brawling it out face to face on the ground while Iron Man takes to the skies and unloads on wave after wave of drones is exactly the kind of thing these modes are for.

All four new skins

UPDATE: Marvel Rivals has detailed the event’s earnable rewards. Playing through the Ultron event unlocks an Age of Ultron skin for Ultron himself, plus exclusive titles for every hero in the roster.

Scarlet Witch — Age of Ultron

Wanda gets a skin based on her look from Avengers: Age of Ultron, which fits the event’s theme precisely.

Winter Soldier — Captain America: The Winter Soldier

This is the one people have been asking for. Bucky in his iconic look from Captain America: The Winter Soldier — a skin plenty of players felt should have been in the game at launch.

Hulk — Spider-Man: Brand New Day

And Peter to match.

These two are a deliberate pair. Director Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed on the Brand New Day premiere carpet that Holland and Ruffalo share scenes in the film — “when they’re together, they just go for it.” Releasing both skins together, on the same day, is the game acknowledging the same team-up. The Spider-Man Day store tab

A dedicated Spider-Man Day store tab goes live alongside the event. Spider-Man Day falls on August 1, marking the publication anniversary of his first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15.

How do you get the skins?

Some of it is earnable. Completing the event unlocks an Age of Ultron skin for Ultron and exclusive titles across the whole roster — no purchase involved.

The four character skins announced alongside the event — Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier, Hulk and Spider-Man — haven’t been confirmed as earnable, and based on how previous event

Why it lands now

Path to Doomsday has been building toward Avengers: Doomsday in December, and running an Age of Ultron event inside that arc is neat sequencing — Ultron is, after all, the last time the Avengers built the thing that nearly ended them.
