Marvel Reveals New X-Men Cast at D23: Adam Driver Is Mister Sinister, Christopher Abbott Is Professor X

Marvel Studios just introduced the MCU’s next generation of mutants.

During Marvel’s D23 2026 presentation Friday night, the studio officially unveiled several major cast members for its upcoming X-Men movie — including Adam Driver as Mister Sinister and Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier.

And Marvel didn’t stop there.

Kit Connor is officially Cyclops, Inde Navarrette will play Rogue and Maya Boyd has been cast as Storm.

The Nerd Wire watched the cast announcements roll out live during the D23 presentation.

Marvel’s New X-Men Cast

Here are the new castings Marvel revealed at D23:

• Christopher Abbott — Charles Xavier / Professor X
• Adam Driver — Nathaniel Essex / Mister Sinister
• Kit Connor — Scott Summers / Cyclops
• Inde Navarrette — Rogue
• Maya Boyd — Ororo Munroe / Storm

The reveals give fans their clearest picture yet of the team Marvel Studios is assembling for its first proper MCU X-Men movie.

Adam Driver Is Mister Sinister

After months of speculation about whether Adam Driver might finally join the MCU — and which mutant character could convince him to do it — Marvel has its answer.

Driver will play Nathaniel Essex, better known as Mister Sinister, in the new X-Men movie.

The casting is particularly notable after Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently joked that trying to recruit Driver had become something of a tradition, with the studio repeatedly meeting with the actor only for him to pass on potential roles.

Ahead of D23, Driver had been linked to multiple X-Men characters, with reports alternately pointing toward Magneto and Mister Sinister.

Marvel has now settled the question.

Driver is Mister Sinister — one of the X-Men’s most enduring villains, a geneticist obsessed with mutation, experimentation and the Summers bloodline.

And with Kit Connor now officially playing Cyclops, Marvel has already placed two characters with a very complicated comic-book history inside the same movie.

Christopher Abbott Will Play Professor X

Abbott had also emerged as a reported contender for Professor X in the days leading into D23. Reports indicated that he had tested for the role as Marvel continued building its new mutant ensemble.

Friday night’s reveal made the casting official.

Kit Connor Is Officially Cyclops

One piece of the puzzle had already started coming together before D23.

Kit Connor had previously been reported as Marvel’s choice to play Scott Summers/Cyclops, with trade reports putting the Heartstopper actor in talks for the role earlier this month.

D23 has now moved Connor from reported casting news into Marvel’s official mutant lineup.

Cyclops is traditionally one of the central leaders of the X-Men, making Connor another major piece of the MCU team’s foundation.

Inde Navarrette Is Rogue

Marvel also revealed Inde Navarrette as Rogue.

Navarrette had been linked to Marvel’s X-Men reboot before D23, though her exact role remained the subject of plenty of speculation.

Now we know where she landed.

She’ll take on Rogue, a character previously played in live action by Anna Paquin in Fox’s original X-Men films.

Maya Boyd Is Storm

Rounding out Friday night’s newly revealed group is Maya Boyd as Ororo Munroe, better known as Storm.

Storm is one of the most iconic members of the X-Men, with the weather-controlling mutant having previously been portrayed on the big screen by Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp.

Boyd now becomes Marvel Studios’ choice to carry Ororo into the MCU’s new era of mutants.

Marvel’s MCU X-Men Are Finally Taking Shape

For years, the question wasn’t whether the X-Men would eventually join the MCU.

It was what Marvel’s version of the team would actually look like once they got there.

D23 finally gave us a much clearer answer.

Adam Driver is Mister Sinister. Christopher Abbott is Professor X. Kit Connor is Cyclops. Inde Navarrette is Rogue. Maya Boyd is Storm.

Those aren’t rumors anymore.

Marvel’s new X-Men are assembling.

And after years of casting speculation, the mutant era of the MCU suddenly feels very real.
