Ryan Gosling is officially firing up the Hellcycle in summer 2028, as Marvel Studios has set a July release date for its upcoming Ghost Rider movie.

Marvel’s Ghost Rider has officially claimed its spot on the calendar.

The upcoming Marvel Studios film starring Ryan Gosling will hit theaters on July 28, 2028, giving the Spirit of Vengeance a prime summer release just a few months after Marvel’s new X-Men movie arrives.

Deadline and Variety reported the new date Monday, August 17. Marvel had previously announced the film for 2028 without revealing exactly when it would arrive.

So, yes. We now know exactly when Ryan Gosling gets to set his head on fire.

Ryan Gosling Is Finally Getting His Ghost Rider Movie

Marvel Studios officially announced Gosling as Ghost Rider during its San Diego Comic-Con presentation in July, ending years of the actor being linked to the character.

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is directing the film, reuniting with Gosling after the pair worked together on Star Wars: Starfighter.

Gosling has also never exactly hidden his interest in playing Ghost Rider. What once sounded like one of those dream superhero castings that would live forever on fan lists is now an actual Marvel movie with an actual release date.

And it is arriving during a very busy year for the MCU.

Marvel’s 2028 Movie Slate Is Taking Shape

Ghost Rider currently lands between two major Marvel releases.

Marvel’s new X-Men movie is scheduled for May 5, 2028, following the studio’s big D23 casting reveal, while Black Panther 3 is set for December 15, 2028.

That currently gives Marvel Studios three theatrical releases in 2028:

It also makes Ghost Rider Marvel’s big midsummer play.

Considering the character brings demons, flaming motorcycles and an extremely different corner of Marvel lore into the equation, that is one hell of a way to follow the MCU’s introduction of the X-Men.

Which Ghost Rider Is Ryan Gosling Playing?

That part remains considerably less clear.

The Johnny Blaze version of Ghost Rider remains the character most closely associated with the name on the big screen thanks to Nicolas Cage’s two films, while Gabriel Luna played Robbie Reyes in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel has confirmed Gosling as Ghost Rider, but the studio has not yet revealed much about the movie’s story or the wider supernatural corner of the MCU surrounding him.

For now, there is finally one thing fans can put on the calendar.

Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider rides into theaters July 28, 2028.
