Storm Reportedly Set for ‘Black Panther 3’ as Marvel Locks New X-Men Cast Into Multiple MCU Movies

Matt Belloni said on The Town that the new X-Men cast's deals cover appearances in other Marvel movies, and named Storm in Black Panther 3 as a specific example. Marvel has not announced any of it.

Matt Belloni says Storm turns up in Black Panther 3, and that the deals go well past the X-Men movie. Marvel hasn’t said a word about any of it.

Marvel’s new X-Men signed for more than one movie. That’s the claim from Matt Belloni on the Friday, August 21 mailbag episode of his podcast The Town, where he said the deals the newly announced X-Men actors signed cover appearances in other Marvel films — and pointed to one in particular: Maya Boyd’s Storm turning up in Black Panther 3.

Belloni was specific about Storm and vaguer about everyone else, describing the contracts as covering appearances beyond the X-Men film without pinning each actor to a title.

This is reporting, not an announcement. Marvel has not confirmed that Storm appears in Black Panther 3, has not described the structure of the X-Men deals, and raised neither at D23. Belloni is describing deal terms he says he knows about. That’s a reported claim, and it stays one until Marvel says otherwise.

What Marvel has actually announced

Marvel named the X-Men cast at D23 on Friday, August 14: Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury. Jake Schreier directs. It hits theaters Friday, May 5, 2028.

Black Panther 3 lands seven months after that, on Friday, December 15, 2028, with Ryan Coogler back in the chair and David Jonsson playing T’Challa’s son.

Kevin Feige said at D23 that more X-Men casting was coming, so those seven names are not the whole team.

The comics receipt

Storm and the Black Panther is not a crossover somebody invented in a pitch meeting. Ororo Munroe and T’Challa met as teenagers in Africa, and Marvel married them in BLACK PANTHER (2005) #18 — Marvel’s own retelling calls it “the super hero wedding of the century.” The marriage was annulled during Avengers vs. X-Men, in AVENGERS VS. X-MEN: VERSUS (2011) #5, and the two came out of it as enemies.

Putting Storm in Wakanda reaches for one of the more load-bearing relationships in Marvel’s back catalog. It isn’t stunt-casting a mutant into a sequel.

Marvel has already done this once

There’s a precedent for an X-Men actor showing up somewhere that isn’t an X-Men movie: Sadie Sink played Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day before the X-Men film shoots. If the deals work the way Belloni describes, that wasn’t a one-off. It was the template.
