A career that never played it safe
Beyond his two signature roles, Curry filled decades with performances ranging from menacing to madcap: Wadsworth the butler in Clue, Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island, plus supporting turns in Annie, The Hunt for Red October, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Addams Family Reunion, and Scary Movie 2. His stage work drew Tony recognition, and across his career he picked up acclaim from the Emmy and Grammy academies as well.
A quieter gaming legacy
Less widely remembered is how deep Curry’s footprint runs in video games. He voiced the title role in the cult FMV adventure Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers and its sequel Gabriel Knight 3, played Premier Anatoly Cherdenko in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, lent his voice to Emperor Doviculus in Brütal Legend, and portrayed the scheming Arl Rendon Howe in Dragon Age: Origins — a role many players still cite as one of gaming’s most memorable villains.
Health struggles in recent years
Curry had lived with serious health challenges since a major stroke in 2012 that required brain surgery, and he had been unable to walk in more recent years. He continued working in voice roles and publishing, releasing his memoir, Vagabond, in recent years.
