Ridley Scott says a third Alien prequel is in development, continuing the David storyline Michael Fassbender has played across Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, Scott said the film would follow David attempting to create a “brave new world” for himself — the synthetic pursuing his own vision after the events of the prior two films.

Worth being precise about where this actually stands: Scott described the project as in development, not greenlit and not dated. There’s no confirmed release window, no confirmed cast beyond Scott’s comments on continuing Fassbender’s arc, and no studio announcement to date.

Scott has stayed closely tied to the franchise since directing the original 1979 Alien and returning behind the camera for Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017), both centered on Fassbender’s David. Should this project move forward, it would mark his fourth directing credit in the series.
