Netflix Orders Manifest Spinoff Arrivals

Netflix is returning to the world of Manifest with Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, a new sci-fi series from the original show’s creative team.

The order was announced Aug. 28—“828 Day” for fans, after the flight number at the center of the original series.

Arrivals begins when a plane crash-lands in Denver and its passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from or why they were aboard. A young social worker and a rookie Homeland Security agent join the passengers in a race to prevent a catastrophe that could end humanity. As they investigate, they discover they are part of the mystery themselves.

The Original Creative Team Returns

Manifest creator Jeff Rake is developing the spinoff with longtime collaborators Margaret Easley and Laura Putney. All three will serve as co-creators, co-showrunners, writers and executive producers.

Rake said the team is designing Arrivals to stand on its own while still rewarding viewers familiar with the original show.

A New Cast—For Now

Netflix says Arrivals will introduce a new cast and story, though no casting announcements have been made. Original stars Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas have not been confirmed to appear.

Manifest premiered on NBC in 2018 and was canceled after three seasons. Its popularity on Netflix helped secure a 20-episode fourth and final season, released in two parts between 2022 and 2023.

Netflix has not announced a premiere date for Arrivals.
