Frontier Developments Announces New Disney Management Sim

Frontier Developments has spent the last decade building theme parks, zoos, and hospitals in simulation form. In fact, the studio is taking that experience somewhere much bigger now. Frontier has confirmed a new Disney management sim, teaming up with the entertainment giant to build a game around its properties.

What We Know About the Disney Management Sim

Frontier will fund and develop the game itself, then publish it. The studio points to its track record leading what it calls the “Creative Management Simulation” genre. That’s the category Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo helped define. Both games still built loyal, active communities that get regular content updates years after launch. Notably, CEO Jo Cooke framed the deal as a chance to connect Frontier’s community of builders with Disney’s brand. She didn’t detail any specific mechanics.

What’s Still Unknown

No release date, no platform, and no confirmed title exist yet for the new management sim. There’s no word yet on which slice of Disney’s catalog the game will use. Meanwhile, Frontier’s announcement only talks about the partnership in broad strokes. So far, outlets covering it agree this looks like very early-stage news.

Disney Has Done This Before

This wouldn’t be Disney’s first swing at outsourced game development. The company has backed licensed games built by other studios before. Gameloft built both Disney Dreamlight Valley and Disney Speedstorm, for instance, rather than Disney’s own internal teams. That track record makes this new deal feel less like a shot in the dark.

The Park-Builder Guess Isn’t Confirmed

Some coverage has floated the idea of a Disneyland-style park builder, given Frontier’s history with Planet Coaster. That’s a reasonable guess based on the studio’s track record. Still, it’s speculation from commentators, not anything Frontier or Disney has said outright. Keep that in mind until an actual concept surfaces.
