Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 Remakes Hit Switch 2 on October 16

The Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes come to Switch 2 on October 16 as native ports with DLC included. Here's the full breakdown.

By September 10, 2026

Capcom is bringing survival horror to Nintendo’s newest console in a big way. All three modern remakes — Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 — arrive on Switch 2 on October 16, 2026. Better yet, they’re native ports, not cloud streams.

That’s a meaningful distinction. Some older Resident Evil games reached Switch only as cloud versions, which required a constant internet connection. These, by contrast, run directly on the hardware. For a horror series that lives and dies on smooth, tense pacing, that upgrade matters.

Every Resident Evil Switch 2 remake, dated

Here’s the lineup. Resident Evil 2 comes as a Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 arrives in its standard form, and Resident Evil 4 lands as a Gold Edition. Crucially, the Deluxe and Gold versions fold in their previously released DLC — so RE4 includes Ada Wong’s Separate Ways campaign. In short, these are the complete packages.

It’s a strong trio on its own merits. The RE2 remake (2019) and RE4 remake (2023) are widely considered among the best in the genre. RE3 is more divisive, but bundling all three gives newcomers an easy entry point.

What to know before you buy

There is one catch worth flagging. At launch, these are digital releases. Physical versions aren’t planned until January 2027, which has already frustrated some collectors. Pricing scales with the game, too, with RE4 sitting at the top of the range and pre-order discounts sweetening each one.

Still, this is a strong showing. The Switch 2 hardware should handle these remakes comfortably, and having the trilogy portable is a genuine draw.

Why this matters right now

The timing is notable. Resident Evil is having a moment across every medium, and this drop lands right as the upcoming live-action Resident Evil ramps up its own campaign. As a result, October is shaping up to be a big month for the franchise. If you’ve been waiting to replay these on the go, the Resident Evil Switch 2 versions are almost here.
