Anárion has been name-dropped for two seasons without ever showing up. Now Andrew Richardson, who plays Elendil’s younger son in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3, has told TV Insider what weighs on him most. “His greatest regret for leaving Númenor is missing so many years with his siblings,” Richardson said, in an interview TV Insider labeled exclusive.
A Brother Who Left
Anárion is the brother of Isildur (Maxim Baldry) and Eärien (Ema Horvath) and the son of Elendil (Lloyd Owen). Until now he has existed only in dialogue. Richardson’s comments suggest the show is building his story around absence and reconnection.
The actor also said Anárion’s siblings “seem to have gone through, and are currently going through, a similar process,” which hints that the family has been changing while he was away.
Eärien Is the Heart of It
The strongest line concerns Eärien. “I think he desperately wants to be reunited with Eärien, to tell her that he understands, and that he loves her,” Richardson told the outlet. He described Anárion as having “a huge capacity for forgiveness for those he loves.”
That sets up a tricky family dynamic. Per Screen Rant’s write-up, Elendil is loyal to Queen Regent Míriel, while Eärien has aligned with Pharazôn (Trystan Gravelle), which puts father and daughter on different paths. A forgiving Anárion could be the one to bridge that gap, though how the season handles it remains to be seen.
When It Arrives
