Rescued, and Not Relieved

After three seasons stranded in the Canadian wilderness, the 1990s soccer team returns home to Wiskayok, New Jersey. Deadline reports the footage runs parallel with their adult counterparts, who are confronted by the dark secrets the group left behind in the woods. The trailer plays out to a rendition of Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic,” which Deadline calls haunting. We would not argue.

The date itself is not new. Paramount+ announced the Nov. 20 premiere in August with a teaser built from footage of the first three seasons, ending on Nat’s radio call, “Can anyone hear me?!” This is the first full look at what happens now that someone did.

Who Is Back

Deadline lists the returning cast as Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, Jenna Burgess and Hilary Swank.

Collider’s report adds guest stars June Squibb, Elijah Wood, Molly Ringwald, Devon Sawa, Sam Braun and Dulé Hill, with Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson as showrunners. Neither outlet gave an episode count, so we are not guessing at one.

Catching Up

All three earlier seasons are streaming on Paramount+, so there are about two weeks to rewatch before the finale run begins. The series, a Showtime original, has always been at its best when the two timelines poison each other. Bringing the teens home to New Jersey while the adults are still dragging the wilderness around with them sets up exactly that collision.

We will have more as the premiere gets closer.
