Kingdom Hearts Series Announced for Disney+ and Disney Channel at D23

Sora is officially heading to television.

Disney announced Kingdom Hearts: The Series during the D23 Entertainment Showcase, confirming that the beloved franchise is getting a new series for Disney+ and Disney Channel.

A stage graphic shown during the presentation revealed the title Kingdom Hearts The Series alongside the words “Coming Soon,” with both Disney Channel and Disney+ logos displayed on screen.

That is the first official confirmation that Kingdom Hearts is being adapted into a series format.

At the moment, Disney has not announced additional details such as a release date, cast, format, or whether the project will directly adapt the events of the games. The announcement also does not yet clarify whether the series will be animated, live-action, or use a hybrid approach.

Still, the reveal is a massive moment for fans of the long-running franchise, which has spent years building one of gaming’s most passionate fan communities through its mix of original characters, Square Enix storytelling and Disney worlds.
