Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man movie has officially joined one of the most exclusive clubs in box-office history.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed $2 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming only the eighth film ever to reach the milestone — and Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing movie of all time.
And apparently Peter Parker has no intention of slowing down.
The Sony and Marvel Studios release added an estimated $70 million domestically during its third weekend, pushing its North American total to approximately $785.8 million. Internationally, the film has earned roughly $1.24 billion, bringing its worldwide haul to more than $2.02 billion.
Brand New Day Is Now Sony’s Biggest Movie Ever
Crossing $2 billion also means Brand New Day has officially surpassed Spider-Man: No Way Home, which finished its theatrical run at approximately $1.92 billion worldwide.
That makes Tom Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man film the highest-grossing Sony Pictures release in history.
The speed of the run is just as ridiculous.
According to current box-office estimates, Brand New Day is the second-fastest movie ever to reach $2 billion, trailing only Avengers: Endgame.
Three weekends.
Two billion dollars.
Peter Parker may be forgotten inside the MCU, but audiences clearly did not get the memo.
Spider-Man Has Been Breaking Records Since Opening Weekend
The $2 billion milestone is just the latest record in what has already become a historic theatrical run.
Brand New Day opened with approximately $360 million domestically, edging past Avengers: Endgame‘s previous North American opening-weekend record of $357 million. Its worldwide launch also approached $1 billion, debuting with more than $900 million globally.
By its second weekend, the movie had already reached approximately $1.67 billion worldwide.
Now, one week later, it’s a $2 billion movie.
And considering Brand New Day is still sitting atop the North American box office in its third weekend, that final worldwide number still has plenty of room to climb.
How High Can Brand New Day Go?
That is officially the fun question now.
The movie has already blown past No Way Home, broken Sony’s all-time record and entered territory occupied by only a tiny handful of films in Hollywood history.
Whether Brand New Day has enough gas left to start chasing the very top of the worldwide box-office rankings remains to be seen.
But $2 billion in three weekends?
Yeah.
Spider-Man is doing just fine.
